About the Blog
Hello, welcome to my blog! LaurenHannah.net is my very own space on the internet, where you’ll find book reviews & writing about my personal experience with autism and mental health issues. I’m working on writing some more about minimalism and sustainability, as those are two things I’m very interested in!
Get to Know Me
My name is Lauren, I’m 22 years old, and I live in the Netherlands.
I was diagnosed with autism at the age of 21. I’m still figuring out what that means for me, and trying to find my path in life. Luckily, I know myself very well and I read a lot, so I hope to help neurotypicals understand autism better by writing about how I experience the world.
I also struggle with depression, anxiety, PTSD, and ARFID. By writing honestly and openly about these conditions, I want to do my part in destroying the stigma against mental health problems.
In my daily life, I mostly work on my blog and videos, while I wait for better healthcare and support. (Waiting lists are my mortal enemy.) As much as I’d like to have a job that I enjoy (something with writing or photography or sustainability or… see list of interests), that simply isn’t possible at the moment.
Project Document Your Life
I started the Document Your Life video project in February of 2012 and I haven’t stopped documenting my life since. The project has helped me a lot with my mental health and is also sort of a memory bank for me. Without it, many memories would have gotten lost in the chaos of my brain.
Document Your Life is my way of trying to keep seeing the beautiful things in life. It’s definitely a project that is all about beauty and positivity, but it’s also about progress and personal growth. I would not be where I am today without the project.
In the time since I started DYL, many people have joined the project and made their own videos. You can read more about the project on its Tumblr page, and you can watch all my Document Your Life videos on YouTube.
I love a lot of things. These are just a few of the things I’m interested in:
- online video
- sustainability & zero waste
- rock climbing & running
- bullet journaling
- books: young adult fiction & non-fiction
- everything related to Harry Potter
- houseplants & gardening
- interior design
- blogging & social media
- horror movies & spooky things
- mental health & autism
- psychology & self-help
- cats & dogs
